Painting by Sri Mahadeb
In Virginia’s memory
“Whatever happens, stay alive.
Don’t die before you’re dead.”
With that, Virginia filled her coat pockets with stones
And drowned in the river alone.
Many years have passed since then.
I am collecting stones in my pockets again and again
And I keep telling myself,
“There is only one thing in life that you should never waste,
And that is life itself…”
Childhood
I never lived an ordinary childhood.
I had no friends, except lots of books.
I wrote stories, poems and sang songs.
And wandered in the solitary fields all alone.
I wanted to be loved but there was no one except my mother
Who had saved me from the cruel world made by others.
I still remember my childhood with deep sorrow.
But I am living in good days now and hope for a better tomorrow.
Death and Life
If you remain silent,
I shall talk forever.
If you remain cold,
I shall burn my anger.
If you walk alone under sun,
I will send myself as rain.
If you put yourself in shadow,
I will make you enlightened.
If sorrow is the meaning of love,
I shall bloom happiness.
If you ever choose to die,
Choose me, I am life instead.
